About NomadTechKit

We’re a team of full-time nomads who got tired of trusting gear reviews written by people who’d never left their zip code.

Our Story

Born on the Road,
Written for the Road

NomadTechKit started in a Chiang Mai co-working space in 2021, when three remote workers compared notes on the gear they wished they’d known about before packing. One charger had melted. One laptop stand had snapped at 35,000 feet. One backpack had failed its first real monsoon. We were spending too much money on bad advice from reviewers who tested products on their desk and shipped them back the next day.

We decided to do it differently. Every product we write about, we buy ourselves, carry through real trips, and use to do real work. Our reviews take weeks to write because they take weeks to earn. We test charging speeds in airport lounges, noise cancellation on overnight trains, and bag durability in checked luggage — not because we have to, but because we refuse to recommend anything we haven’t actually trusted our work to.

Today, NomadTechKit reaches 50,000+ readers a month across 80+ countries. We’ve kept every original promise: no free samples, no paid placements, no affiliate relationship that changes a ranking. The only thing that gets something to #1 is being the best thing in its category, full stop.

What Drives Us

Three Principles. No Exceptions.

These aren’t marketing copy. They’re the constraints we gave ourselves on day one and never loosened.

Radical Transparency

We disclose every affiliate relationship clearly. We publish products that failed our tests alongside ones that passed. When we change a recommendation, we explain why.

Independence, Always

No product has ever influenced its position by providing samples or payment. Brands we’ve recommended have later tried — politely and unsuccessfully — to pay for placement. The answer is always no.

Quality Over Clicks

We update reviews when products change, remove recommendations when better ones appear, and write fewer, longer, more useful pieces instead of churning out thin content to chase search rankings.

How We Work

Our Testing Process

Every product earns its place through the same five stages. There’s no shortcut through any of them.

Research Phase
We analyze 150+ user reviews, professional tests, spec sheets, and forum discussions before we buy anything. If a product has red flags in the field, we’ll find them before we waste money.

2
Purchase & Unboxing
We buy every product at retail price from public channels — no press samples, no loaner units. Unboxing experience, packaging quality, and included accessories are part of the overall score.
Real-World Evaluation
Minimum 6 weeks of active use across multiple locations, climates, and situations. We don’t test chargers on a desk — we test them on overnight trains, at airport gates, and in 40°C humidity.

4
Expert Analysis
Our technical team verifies specs with measurement tools: watt meters for chargers, decibel meters for noise cancellation, luggage scales for bags. We don’t trust the box. We measure.
Final Recommendation
Only products that pass every stage and beat their category competition make the final list. We re-test top picks every 6 months and update recommendations when something better appears.

Our Values

What We Stand For

Six commitments we made on day one and have never wavered on.

Transparency

We disclose every affiliate link, explain every editorial decision, and tell you when a product we once loved has declined in quality.

Independence

No brand has ever paid to influence a ranking. No product has ever appeared because a company asked nicely. Rankings are earned, not bought.

Quality

We’d rather publish one great review a week than ten mediocre ones a day. Every piece we publish is something we’d stake our reputation on.

Consistency

Every product goes through the same process. A $30 cable gets the same rigor as a $300 pair of headphones. The testing framework doesn’t flex for any price point.

Honesty

If a product fails — even one we championed before — we say so. Our negative reviews exist. They’re some of the most-read pieces on the site.

Community

Our readers share feedback, flag problems, and sometimes catch things we missed. We read every message and update reviews when the community finds something important.
