Privacy Policy

Last updated: January 15, 2025

At NomadTechKit, your privacy matters to us. This policy explains exactly what data we collect, how we use it, and what rights you have. We’ve written it in plain language on purpose — if something is unclear, email us and we’ll explain it.

Overview

NomadTechKit (the “Site”) is operated by NomadTechKit Ltd. (“we”, “us”, or “our”). We are committed to protecting your personal information and your right to privacy.

This Privacy Policy applies to information we collect when you visit nomadtechkit.site, sign up for our newsletter, or otherwise communicate with us. It does not apply to third-party sites linked from our content, including Amazon and other retailers.

Quick summary: We collect minimal data, we don’t sell it, and we don’t share it with anyone except the essential services required to run the site. You can request deletion of your data at any time.

Data We Collect

Information You Provide

When you voluntarily interact with our site, we may collect:

  • Email address (if you subscribe to our newsletter)
  • Name (if you choose to include it when subscribing)
  • Any information included in messages you send us via email or contact forms

Information Collected Automatically

When you visit our site, we automatically collect certain technical information to help us improve the experience:

  • IP address (anonymized before storage)
  • Browser type and version
  • Pages viewed and time spent on each page
  • Referring URLs (how you arrived at our site)
  • General geographic region (country level, not precise location)
  • Device type (desktop, mobile, tablet)

Information We Do Not Collect

We do not collect payment information, government ID numbers, precise location data, social media credentials, or any sensitive personal categories defined under GDPR Article 9.

How We Use Your Data

We use the information we collect for the following purposes only:

  • To send newsletter emails to subscribers who have opted in
  • To respond to messages and support requests
  • To analyze site traffic and understand which content is most useful
  • To improve site performance, security, and user experience
  • To comply with legal obligations

We do not use your data for automated profiling or decisions that have a legal or similarly significant effect on you. We do not use your data to serve targeted advertising beyond standard analytics.

Important: We never sell your personal data to third parties, and we never will. Our business model is affiliate commissions from products we genuinely recommend — not data monetization.

Cookies & Analytics

Essential Cookies

We use a small number of cookies that are strictly necessary for the site to function. These cannot be disabled without breaking core functionality and do not track personal information.

Analytics

We use Fathom Analytics, a privacy-first analytics service that does not use cookies, does not track individuals across sites, and is fully GDPR compliant. Fathom never sees personally identifiable information and does not store IP addresses. You can read their privacy policy at usefathom.com/privacy.

Email Tracking

Our email provider may use open-tracking pixels to measure email open rates. This is standard industry practice. You can disable images in your email client to opt out of this tracking. We use aggregate open rates only — we do not track individual reading behavior.

How to Control Cookies

You can control and delete cookies through your browser settings. For guidance on how to do this, visit allaboutcookies.org. Note that disabling cookies may affect some site functionality.

Affiliate Disclosure

NomadTechKit participates in the Amazon Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com.

When you click a link marked “Check Latest Price” or similar and make a purchase on Amazon, we may receive a commission. This commission comes at no additional cost to you — you pay the same price whether you use our link or go directly to Amazon.

This commission never influences our recommendations. We recommend products we’ve tested and would use ourselves. Our #1 picks earn no more per sale than our #6 picks. Rankings are determined exclusively by testing results.

We are required by the FTC to disclose this relationship. We also disclose it voluntarily because we believe transparency matters. If you prefer not to use our affiliate links, you can always search for products directly on Amazon or any retailer of your choice.

Other Affiliate Programs

In addition to Amazon, we may occasionally participate in affiliate programs from other retailers relevant to travel tech. These relationships are always disclosed on the relevant pages. The same independence policy applies: no commission relationship has ever changed a recommendation or a ranking.

Third-Party Services

We use a small number of carefully selected third-party services to operate the site. Each has its own privacy policy:

  • Fathom Analytics — privacy-first website analytics (no cookies, no personal data)
  • Mailchimp / ConvertKit — email newsletter delivery for subscribers
  • Cloudflare — CDN, DDoS protection, and performance optimization
  • Amazon Associates — affiliate link tracking when you click to Amazon
  • WordPress / WP Engine — site hosting and content management

We do not use Facebook Pixel, Google Ads remarketing, or any behavioral advertising tracking on this site.

GDPR & International Privacy

Legal Basis for Processing (EU Visitors)

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), our legal basis for collecting and using your personal information is:

  • Consent — for email newsletter subscriptions and optional cookies
  • Legitimate interests — for basic site analytics to improve performance and security
  • Legal obligation — where required by applicable law

International Data Transfers

Some of our third-party service providers are located outside the EEA. When we transfer data internationally, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, including Standard Contractual Clauses where required by EU law.

CCPA (California Residents)

California residents have specific rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act. We do not sell personal information as defined by the CCPA. For any California-specific rights requests, please contact us at the address below.

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Right to rectification — request correction of inaccurate data
  • Right to erasure — request deletion of your personal data
  • Right to portability — request your data in a machine-readable format
  • Right to restrict processing — request that we limit how we use your data
  • Right to object — object to processing based on legitimate interests
  • Right to withdraw consent — unsubscribe from newsletters at any time via the link in any email

To exercise any of these rights, email us at privacy@nomadtechkit.site. We will respond within 30 days. We do not charge for reasonable requests.

Data Retention

We retain different types of data for different periods:

  • Email subscriber data — retained until you unsubscribe, then deleted within 30 days
  • Analytics data — aggregated and anonymized; retained for 24 months for trend analysis
  • Contact form submissions — retained for up to 12 months, then deleted unless ongoing communication requires otherwise
  • Server logs — retained for 30 days for security and debugging purposes

When we no longer need your data, we delete it securely. We do not archive personal data beyond these periods.

Children’s Privacy

Our site is not directed at children under 16 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If we discover we have collected personal information from a child under 16 without parental consent, we will delete it immediately.

If you believe we may have collected data from or about a child, please contact us at privacy@nomadtechkit.site.

Policy Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make significant changes, we will:

  • Update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page
  • Send a notification to newsletter subscribers if changes are material
  • Keep the previous version available on request

We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of those changes.

If you have questions about any version of this policy or how we handle data, please contact us. We’re a small team and we read every message.
